St. Luke's Choir
St. Luke's Choir is an integral part of the worship life of St. Luke's Church. Striving to offer the fine music in the Anglican tradition, the choir's most important role is that of leading congregational music — hymns, psalms and other songs of praise. The choir takes great pride in leading the music of worship at the 11:15 a.m. service on a weekly basis during the program year (September through May).
The choir sings a variety of sacred choral music, from plainsong and great classical works for the service, to an occasional spiritual. As a four-part choir (SATB), the choir always works toward a sense of balance and ensemble. About twice a year, the choir joins singers in the other choirs and presents a Choral Evensong, usually around All Saints' Day, and a Requiem on Good Friday.
Membership in St. Luke's Choir is open to all who are willing to honor the most important requirement: the commitment of time for weekly rehearsals. Previous choral experience and the ability to read music, though helpful, is not required.
