Explore The Life Lessons...

Of Iconic Holiday Stories.

Every year, we get a warm fuzzy feeling from watching those much-beloved holiday specials, like Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, The Grinch, and a Charlie Brown Christmas. But for St. Luke’s priest, Father Michael Ralph, they are also a springboard to Advent. Over three December Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm, Father Ralph will offer an adult education series: The Theology Of Holiday Specials, over Zoom that explores the life lessons of each of these iconic holiday stories.

THE THEOLOGY OF HOLIDAY SPECIALS SCHEDULE:
Wednesday, December 9 at 7 pm: Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer:
There are no misfits in the Kingdom of God. The early church community was not a glamorous of powerful lot. Christianity was found, largely, on the margins of society rather than among the elite. And Rudolph speaks to the gifts that we find whenever we are open to differences and to those on the margins.

Wednesday, December 16 at 7 pm: How the Grinch Stole Christmas: People can change — even dramatically — in the Kingdom of God. The Apostle Paul is one of the most important figures in the early church and the church’s first theologian. But he did not start out as a follower of Christ. He was a persecutor of the early Christians before his own conversion experience on the road to Damascus. Afterward, he was never the same. The Grinch has a similar conversion experience, which leads him to make great changes in his life.

Wednesday, December 23 at 7 pm: A Charlie Brown Christmas: The little things do matter, here and in the Kingdom of God. The first Christmas was hardly a commercial or glamorous event. It was humble and earthy but forever changed the world. And Charlie Brown finds the meaning of Christmas in something very small and humble as well.
