BECOMing Beloved Community Initiative

Invites us to grow together as people who love God and love the image of God that we find in our neighbors, in ourselves, and in creation.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Episcopal Church’s long-term commitment to racial healing, reconciliation and justice.

"When historians pick up their pens to write the story of the 21st century, let them say that it was your generation who laid down the heavy burdens of hate at last and that peace finally triumphed over violence, aggression and war. So I say to you, walk with the wind, brothers and sisters, and let the spirit of peace and the power of everlasting love be your guide.

- John Lewis, Civil Rights Leader written shortly before his death on July 17, to be published upon the day of his funeral READ FULL ESSAY HERE

GOALS & BELIEFS

Becoming Beloved Community represents not so much a set of programs as a journey, a set of interrelated commitments around which Episcopalians may organize our many efforts to respond to racial injustice and grow a community of reconcilers, justice-makers, and healers.
