2019 Vestry Nominees
Patty Meyers
Patty is a resident of Licking County for the past 25 years. She has been a member of St. Luke's for approximately 18 years. During that time, she taught Sunday School, led women's groups, served on Vestry as Junior Warden and then Senior Warden. She has been Chairperson of the Membership Committee for the past 15 years. Patty has had 2 careers. The first as a bank manager for State Savings Bank in Columbus. Subsequent to that she worked in Financial Aid at OSU-Newark/COTC and at Franklin University. She started a new position last year as Associate Program Director at A Call to College in Newark, Ohio. She enjoys outdoor activities - hiking, bicycling, gardening, and being near water. She also enjoys reading, crafting and hanging out with friends and family. She is married to Keith and has 3 adult children, Danielle (Taylor) King, Brent and Katherine. Also, one adorable grandson, Benjamin King.
Kimberly Zaborniak
Kim grew up in the Heart of Ohio, in the Village of Centerburg. It was there where she learned the practice of being a good neighbor; seeing people in need and acting on it. She rescued and housed animals of all kinds starting at a young age. Her love of animals, mostly Terriers has only increased over 40 some years. She has been involved in getting over 180 dogs, mostly Airedale Terriers and Wire Fox Terriers rehomed. Currently she trains and shows her Champion Airedale Elliott and a rescued Wire Fox Terrier, Copper. Kim retired from the Ohio High School Athletic Association in 2014 after 34 years. She was recognized by her peers and was honored into the Officials Hall of Fame. Kim and Henry now own and operate Five Star Painting of Pickerington and Reynoldsburg for the past five years. Kim grew up attending the Church of Christ with her Grandmother and Mother in Centerburg. For the past 20 years she’s been actively involved in the Episcopal Church first St. Andrew’s Pickerington and now St. Luke’s Granville. She’s participated as a special visitor, meals at St. Vincent; junior high program, the Granville Turkey Trot and other areas when needed. Now she looks forward to working with the congregation as a member of the Vestry.
Liz Barringer-Smith
Liz Barringer-Smith is a busy mom of two. Married to Mark Smith since 1994, they have daughters Zoe (Denison class of 2022) and Maya who is a seventh grader at Utica Middle School. Liz has worked at Denison since 2007 as an Academic Administrative Assistant in the Modern Languages Department and serves on the Engagement and Communications Committee, The Wellness Advisory Committee and The Denison Continuous Process Improvement Committee. Liz and Mark have also bred Australian Labradoodles since 2003 with their friends the Lamberts. In her copious spare time Liz enjoys driving around a minivan full of cross-country kids, 5ks, as much yoga as is humanly possible, weightlifting and indoor cycling. Other loves include cooking, knitting and reading. An Episcopalian since birth and a graduate of The Episcopal Academy on the Main Line in Philadelphia, Liz has seen a lot of change in the church and is pleased with the direction things are going. She looks forward to helping St. Luke's look towards the future.
Pat Ford
Patrick is a life-long Episcopalian and has attended St. Luke’s for the past 25 years with his wife Danielle and their two boys, WIlliam and Peter. He served on the Vestry twice before; once in the late 1990’s as Jr. Warden and most recently as Sr. Warden from 2006 to 2009 during which time he helped lead the first capital campaign. Patrick is a Senior Vice-President with Merrill Lynch in Zanesville where he has made his career for the past 30 years providing investment and financial planning advice to his clients. He and Danielle live in Granville and are adjusting well to being recent “empty-nesters” now that both boys are in college. WIlliam is a Senior at Case Western Reserve majoring in Chemistry and minoring in Music and Peter is a Freshman at Ohio University and a proud member of the Marching 110; both boys have benefited greatly from St. Luke’s robust music programs.
Galen Kendrick
Galen has taught music primarily at the Elementary Level for the Licking Heights Local School District for the past 16 years. In his role as a music educator, Galen strives to provide a well-rounded curriculum as well as teach positive behavioral skills to his students. Galen and his wife Dorota have two girls; Ela who is in Fifth Grade and currently sings with the choristers, and Ingrid, who is in Pre-Kindergarten. He originally from Xenia, OH and moved to Columbus to attend OSU. There, he earned a B.A. in Jazz Performance and Music Education. Galen’s family resides in Granville, and his family joined St. Luke’s in the summer of 2014. He enjoy the outdoors, working outside, basic carpentry and making beautiful memories with his family. He’s excited to serve on the Vestry as well as contribute to the future growth of St. Lukes.
