IMPORTANT!!! Parish News

Friends,

This morning I received word that one of the persons with whom I had contact at the beginning of the week had tested positive for COVID-19. I was masked during the short period of time I spent with the person. I immediately went to get a test myself and I’m pleased to say that I tested negative. I also want to tell you that I have been consulting with my wardens and some of our healthcare professionals on taking next steps. I spoke to Ashlin Caravana, who is a contact tracer, and she said that I did not meet the threshold of having had close contact with someone who could spread the illness. I also spoke with Tracee Laing who is a physician. Both recommended that I follow up with a second test at the beginning of this coming week. I will be doing so as a precautionary measure.

In light of all this I will not be distributing communion from the reserved sacrament tomorrow morning and will not begin doing so again until I receive a second negative test. I want to make sure that I am not going to spread an illness. While I am quite content that I am healthy, as a priest I think there is a higher standard than simply having good intentions. Rest assured that I will let you know as soon as I receive my second test results.

These are painful and fretful times and we have to be extremely careful as we go about our lives. Keep wearing those masks. Keep washing those hands. Keep maintaining a safe social distance. And remember to pray for all those who are afflicted with this terrible virus. And make sure to tune into our live-streamed service at 10:00 am tomorrow. God bless you all.
