Pastoral Care Committee Update

As has been true of so many aspects of our lives, the Covid Pandemic has impacted the work of St. Luke's Pastoral Care Committee. However, as our mission statement says, “...(we are) dedicated to compassionate and caring support for one another just as Christ loves and cares for us.” To that end, committee members met via Zoom on August 24th. Members reported on various aspects of the Committee's work and enjoyed the fellowship that technology affords. Here are the components of the Committee's work:

PRAYER CHAIN
Add your name or the names of family and friends who would appreciate the active prayers of this group of six St. Luke's members who regularly offer prayers.

PRAYER SHAWLS
A group of knitters create prayer shawls that are blessed by Fr. Michael and distributed to members who are ill or experiencing other difficulties.

CARD MINISTRY
You can request that a card expressing sympathy, thinking of you, or a get well message is sent to a parishioner or family member.

EUCHARISTIC VISITS
When and until pandemic protocol changes, Fr. Michael can bring the Eucharist to members who are confined to home or care facility.

FRIENDLY VISITORS/CALLERS
This component has also been impacted by the pandemic, but committee members continue to telephone and when able visit St. Luke's parishioners who are living at home or in a care facility.
