Scott Hayes Will Be Guest Organist
A Blast From The Past…
Scott Hayes will be St. Luke’s guest organist on July 16 and 23 during the 10:00 am services.
Scott Hayes, Director of Music
Scott was born and raised as a Methodist pastor's son in West Virginia. While growing up, he sang in the church choirs in the churches his father served and decided at an early age to become a church musician. In his spare time, he enjoys tinkering with computers, working on his house, and any project he can get his hands on. Since moving to Richmond, he's become a roller coaster enthusiast, and can be found on the tallest and fastest coaster with the shortest line. Scott, his wife Amy, and their daughter live in Bon Air.
Serving as a church musician for almost 25 years, Scott began his career at the age of 15 with his first church position in Athens, West Virginia. After high school, he moved to Ohio to continue his education, and attended Ohio Wesleyan and Cedarville Universities. For 10 years, he served as the Tonal Director of Muller Pipe Organ Company in Croton, Ohio (a role he continues in a part-time capacity).
In 2012, Scott earned his Masters of Music in Organ Performance from Cleveland Institute of Music, where he was a student of Todd Wilson. Before joining the All Saints Staff at the beginning of 2016, he was the organist and choirmaster at St. Luke’s in Granville, Ohio for over 10 years.
As Director of Music at All Saints, he is responsible for coordinating all worship music as well as overseeing the many different choirs. He is passionate about showing God's presence through music and helping raise new generations of musicians through music education. Scott’s favorite liturgy is the Easter Vigil, the Saturday right before Easter, because it tells the "whole story", while the music and liturgy focus on the central goal of resurrection.
IN ADDITION, Join us after church for Coffer Hour with Scott. Come say hi and catch up with St. Luke's former Choir Master & Organist, Scott Hayes. You will also have an opportunity to say hello to this week's wonderful Supply Priest, Rob Mathews!
