Market Street Pantry
We welcome members of St. Luke’s Church and any caring resident of Licking County with a desire to help those in need.
Address:
37 ½ South Fourth Street
Newark, Ohio
(740) 345-7649
The pantry can be hard to locate as, despite the address, the door is not on South Fourth Street. We are located at the back of the Glidden Paint building so you need to turn right from South Fourth onto Market Street and then turn right at the back of Glidden. You will see a white door and a sign on the wall for Market Street Pantry.
Hours:
Every Wednesday & Saturday
10:00 am until 12:00 pm
Market Street Pantry is one of 20 pantries under the umbrella of the Food Pantry Network of Licking County. The pantry is set up like a supermarket with rows of shelves filled with assorted food items and several fridges and freezers for frozen meats, etc. A shopping cart is provided for each family to use during their monthly visit.
A large delivery of food occurs the first Wednesday of each month and there is a weekly pick-up of fresh produce and meat. Crews working on Wednesday and Saturday work in groups of six or more, with one person checking client paperwork and entering information on the laptop and the others assisting clients to shop.
Volunteers can choose to work with the clients helping them pick out their food, or enter data on the laptop, or help with stocking shelves when the pantry is closed. Please drop by on either of the two days we are open to see how we operate.
We would love to have you volunteer with us for two hours each month.
