Let's Go For A Drive
We know you've missed coming to St. Luke's - and we've missed having you here!
With St. Luke's being closed this year, we've missed so many wonderful things - baptisms, weddings, gorgeous choral music, warm hugs (Is there anything better than a St. Luke's hug??), and inspired sermons. (Come on now, you haven't watched ALL of Father Michael's sermons online, have you?)
Something else we've missed? Undesignated donations that are shared in the offertory plate each week. Did you know that we typically receive about $5,000 budget each year from these donations? Because of COVID-19 restrictions, thus far we have received only about $600.00, so our plate cash deficit is $4,400.00.
We have an idea we would like you to consider to make up the shortfall. November 22 is National "Go For a Ride Day." We can celebrate it, and help St. Luke's make up for our shortfall. Here's how:
Wait for a sunny day (Maybe Nov. 22nd?)
Drive to St. Luke's and back home.
Record your mileage. (Or simply use mapquest and save more mileage dollars!)
Multiply that number by 41 (the number of Sundays St. Luke's will have been closed this year).
Now you know how many miles you've saved on your car by NOT going to church each Sunday. Would you consider multiplying that number by $0.58 (the IRS mileage reimbursement rate) and sending that amount to St. Luke's? If everyone did that, it would go a long way toward helping us fill that budget gap — and you get a beautiful drive to boot!
Thank you for considering helping us this way, and enjoy your ride!
