Celebrate Loved Ones Lost
But Not Forgotten
Day Of The Dead Celebration, October 31st
Join us for All Saints Sunday On October 31 where we will remember those loved ones who have gone before us and celebrate them in the Mexican tradition of Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead. This special celebration takes place each year in Mexico on November 1 and 2, coinciding with our Anglican tradition of All Saints Day. The Mexican tradition has families decorating the graves of their loved ones and celebrating them with parades and festivals. At St. Luke’s, we will set up our own “ofrenda” or altar on the steps of the church. This special altar includes flowers, candles, a cross, and food, then families add photos and mementos. We will also fill the sanctuary with photos and the names of the saints we want to remember. You are invited to bring photos of those you’d like remembered to church for our ofrenda or send names and photos to the church office.
