New Adult Education Offering
Tom Wortham has agreed to take on the daunting task of trying to follow in the footsteps of Wayne Piper as Director of Adult Education for St. Luke’s. Because of the current challenges to the way we need to do church business, we have decided to move Adult Education events to Wednesday evenings, 7:00-8:30 pm, accessible both on-line and "live" in the Undercroft (20-22 seats, masks and vaccinations required, reservations also required).
The first program beginning next Wednesday, October 6 will be a Lecture & Discussion Series: Searching For Jim facilitated by parish member, Tom Wortham. Join Tom for an introductory lecture/discussion of his seven-part series on the emergence of the African-American voice in American literature. (Further segments of this particular series will be held on the first Wednesday of the following six months except December via the St. Luke's YouTube Channel (Please see the change from Zoom). Click here for more information about this Lecture & Discussion series.
On the other Wednesdays of the month Tom will host a variety of interesting presentations by both parish members and others, always with opportunity for questions and responses from participants both in the Undercroft and Zoom. The topics include proper stewardship of the earth, spirituality, religion and popular culture, style diversity in contemporary music, the architectural splendor of St. Luke’s, gardens for our pollinating friends, the inclusivity of the Episcopal Church, diversity in the Columbus art scene, and a panel of high-school students discussing the future as they see it. (more information to follow)
If you wish to participate, please call either the parish office or Tom’s home (740-242-5292) and leave a message. You may also send Tom an eMail message if you prefer: wortham@humnet.ucla.edu
