Program Year Begins, September 10

Fall Worship At St. Luke's

On Sunday the 10th we shift our worship as we say hello to the program year. What will be familiar:  Eucharistic prayer B from the book of Common Prayer and the Matthias service music. What will not be familiar: some of the responses! Five years ago general convention approved trial use of more inclusive language in the texts of  the book of common prayer/ It means that we can't really go on autopilot.

Our desire to speak inclusively of God and community is a "result of a serious commitment on the part of many people to use words more responsibly, to speak more precisely, and to communicate more truthfully...We are affected consciously and unconsciously by the language we hear and use." (Shaffran and Kozak, 1986)

This Sunday, September 10
Discussion sermon: Roger Nichols and Elizabeth Hoster discuss Love as the essence of God. What’s love got to do With it? Come and see!

Music This Fall
We are delighted to have Amanda Parker as our Organist for (at least!) much of the fall. Amanda comes to Ohio from Vermont, and has enjoyed a long career as a church organist.  She has even had some compositions published. Amanda moved to this area to be near one of her children.

Organist Search
We have had four people express interest. Due to their schedules, locations, and recovery from obtaining a new hip, We will have auditions around mid October.

Next Sunday, September 17
Coffee Hour will happen in the Undercroft. Dagny Gelormo will talk about the upcoming Bishop election, the importance of this choice, and how to find more information. Roger Nichols will then talk about how to be a partner in prayer for candidates and all involved in the September 30th election.
