What Better Way To Share The Love

Is To Share The Glove!

St. Luke’s Church & Market Street Pantry are spearheading a glove challenge called “Share the Glove Collection Drive”. Letters have been sent out to our Granville neighbors (Churches & organizations) and we have invited them to participate in this challenge.

The participants will collect new or gently used gloves for the entire month of February. After the challenge is over, they can either donate them to an organization of their choice or to St. Luke’s. (Some churches have their own pantries and programs.) The final tally will be announced on March 1 with the winner receiving the “Golden Glove Award” and of course…bragging rights!

St. Luke’s will donate our collected gloves to the Market Street Pantry and help our fellow pantries in Licking County. This challenge is not affiliated with the Food Pantry Network, just a home-grown idea to help keep our clients warm. The knitted hats that our wonderful St. Luke’s knitters made for the MSP was such a wonderful success and so greatly appreciated we decided to reach out for gloves!

Our volunteers at the Market Street Pantry have noticed a huge uptick in homeless and walking clients in the recent months. Our average count of families each week for Wednesday and Saturday is around 70 families.

There are several places you will be able to drop off the gloves –

  • A large, sealable, black container will be located on the steps of the church. Come by anytime and drop the gloves off in the container

  • At the Parish House, Monday, Wednesday, or Friday. (You can leave in a bag marked Share the Glove by the door if no one is there.)

  • On Sunday’s the large container will be inside on the west side of the Nave.

  • Drop them off at the Market Street Pantry on Wednesday or Saturday 8:30 am – 11:30 am. Address: 37 ½ 4th Street, Newark, OH.
